Do wishes really come true?

Wishing equals lots of initial feel good vibes which is lots of positive energy worth expending. Another way to look at wishing is to call it a “pending gratitude”. A gratitude is being grateful for something that has happened. A pending gratitude is being grateful for something that has the possibility of happening, better know as having hope for a good outcome.     Wishes really can come true (sometimes). Probably all of us have heard references to wishing: “wishful thinking”, “wish upon a star”, or “never stop making wishes” to name a few, with the last quote being my favorite. Merriam-Webster defines wishing: “regarded as having the power to grant wishes” ~ threw a coin in the wishing well. First known use, circa 1530. I am a wishful thinker and happy to be so because I think wishing can be a healthy activity. It has an underlying assumption that I have hope for “a...

The funny spin on hula hooping

I think of the hula hoop as a genius type of invention. Born in the 1950’s as a toy, it has evolved into being many things to many different types of people. I’ve heard it described as a sport-like activity, offering a vigorous and full body workout, an instant stress reliever, a child’s game but when used by a adult, an alternative to boring types of exercise. As a dance form, it provides a creative outlet with endless motion as the hooper loops around performing difficult and “effortful” gained skills. I have seen it used as a prop in competitive olympic workouts.  Some have even claimed feeling a spiritual significance as they circled, looped and flowed within the symbolic circle, a meaning understood throughout most cultures as “the circle of life”. But is there something funny about hula hooping? I think so. When I first tried hula hooping...

Twisting more fun into your party celebration

We love parties and the excitement of planning for the fun! Finding the best venue, entertainer and assorted activities doesn’t have to be challenging. Great memories are almost a guarantee when you consider the ages of your guests and offer a variety of activities. If one child doesn’t appear to like having either their face, arm or hand  painted, having another activity to follow, may ignite that smile that adults love to watch for. Adding balloon twisting is one recommendation I like to suggest. It’s fun for kids to pick their favorite color balloons and watch the squeaky, twisting, (sometimes popping) completed form come to be. The smiles are numerous as guests watch on. An additional benefit is that it can also be a take home favor, giving your guests memories long after the party has ended.         🙂 🙂...

Simple fun is the best party plan!

Have you ever planned a child’s birthday party that involved so much work, that you couldn’t enjoy the fun? That’s a common result of over planning and worth trying to make your next party simple. The phrase “less is more” comes to mind along with a possible more memorable experience and less stress and dollars. So how does one simplify a 5 year old’s birthday celebration?   It is possible and you may be surprised on how easy it can be! Kids need few things to find enjoyment even when in a group. An attentive adult and time is a good foundation that goes far. That’s where a good entertainer can come in handy. Be it a hire or if you decide to invent the activities yourself, everything that comes after that, is in the hints taken from the kids themselves. Are they an active bunch today? Try games then that use up their energy while...

My Monster Thinking

Unless you are perfect, we all have it! Thinking certain thoughts that can prevent the possibility of a more peaceful and enjoyable day! The solution may seem simple, like to just stop thinking about them right? Possibly, however it didn’t work that easily for me. I would think things over and over again, with a variety of solutions and a plan that was sure to work the next time around! If my solution worked, it didn’t seem to work for very long. I’d be right back to the thoughts and feelings with a new added frustration of “here I go again.” Thankfully, I realized the insanity of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting to have a new outcome. Being somewhat of a visual and creative person, I decided to “get the monsters out of my head and give them a new home.” After all, they had been renting in my head for free. It was about...

Are you lucky in love?

With Valentine’s Day approaching, I feel like posting this blog using the colors red and pink. With all the glamour that surrounds a day that celebrates love, who wouldn’t feel moved to respond in kind. Everywhere I go, I am reminded of the season and I must admit, I really enjoy the fuss! Red hearts of every shape and size, delicious candy and cards with beautiful words that are a reminder of the wonderful emotion we feel and express as LOVE!  Do you think love is an emotion that captures us unsuspectingly or is choice? What does love mean to you?   When I try to come up with a meaning, I can’t help noting all the different kinds of love. I believe love is large. Too large to ever be truly understood! It can be mysterious, baffling, painful and even frustrating at times while glorious, kind, delightful and full of hope. I think love begins with self love that...

Fun in the Snow

Get a little silly with your imagination next time it snows. Instead of making an ordinary snow angel with your kids, add a hula hoop for a halo effect. Most adults think of snow as a burdensome cleanup job and a slippery after the storm accident waiting to happen. Though snowy weather can certainly be dangerous, with careful planning it can be a great excuse to stay off roads and nurture your inner child with some good old fashion fun. Give the gift of Snow Hearts to let others who are also enjoying the snow with you, know just how special they are. Snow fun is limited only by your own creativity. What possibilities can you come up with? Make a snow goddess instead of a snowman. Playing in the snow is another feel good child like activity which can help relieve stress and give you an incredible workout at the same time. If you want to change up your perspective on exercising, instead...

The Magic of the Ocean

Find your passion at the beach. Whether it be an brilliant sunrise, a soothing warm soak with tumbling waves or a fishing adventure. So much awaits you. You deserve to relax. Most people would agree that there is a wonderful feeling associated with a day at the beach. The warmth of the sun, the power of the waves and a chance to have no where to be for a little while. This flipped starfish may look like he’s having a bad day. I’ve heard however that, “Even a bad day at the beach, can be a whole lot better than being somewhere else.” What do you think? Look at the beautiful sand patterns under the rushing in of ocean water. One of the most important things you can do, is to just...
